Our Work: Front Yard Make Over For Our Clients In Waratah

Our client contacted us shortly after moving into their property. They had owned the house for several years and had been renting it out while they lived elsewhere for work. During this time they had allowed the tenant to make some changes to the property, one of which was planting a garden bed in the front lawn of the house.

A White Picket Fence By Squarepegs Handyman

The garden bed had become overgrown and was a bit too haphazard for the owners taste, so they decided to remove it and restore the lawn with turf. The area was northwest facing which would normally mean plenty of morning sun, however a large tree cast shade over most of the area. With this in mind We selected a specific shade loving variety of sir Walter buffalo turf. This grass will thrive in the semi shaded area and match seamlessly with the buffalo in the rest of the lawn area.

fencing And A Street Apeal Level Up

The other item on the list for the front area was a fence upgrade. The existing fence was a basic steel weld mesh style fence which offered no privacy and fell short on aesthetic appeal.

The surrounding houses had various versions of the classic white picket fence, which the owners were fond of. I agreed it would be much more in keeping with the vibe of the area and suggested matching the colonial profile of their existing side gate. This profile is a very classic look, and would stand out from the flat top pickets of the two neighbouring fences, while keeping a consistent colour scheme for the street. With the colour and style of the new fence chosen we settled on a square inbuilt letterbox for a more sleek and modern look, and we were ready to go.

Achieving Great results With fencing

The existing steel posts from the old fence were straight and solid, so to save some time and money we left them in place and sleeved them with timber. This gave the desired timber post look but meant no digging up old footings and waiting for new posts to set before we could continue. By doing this we completed the fence construction and undercoat in one day, and then sprayed two coats of paint on the second day to complete the project from start to finish in under 36 hours. This meant minimal disruption to the lives of our clients, which is always appreciated.
